Malacañang has confirmed the designation of Lt. Gen. Andres Centino as the new chief of staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) effective Friday, Nov.12, 2021.
Thus, said Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque in a statement sent to Palace reporters Friday afternoon.
Centino replaced his "mistah", Gen. Jose Faustino Jr. A copy of his appointment paper, signed by President Duterte, was also acquired by reporters just prior to Roque's statement.
"We are confident that Gen. Centino will continue the initiatives of his predecessors to bring lasting peace and development in the country while securing the State and upgrading our defense capability," Roque said.
"We wish the success of Gen. Centino in his new role as AFP chief," added the Palace mouthpiece.
Centino graduated on top of his class at the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) “Maringal” class of 1988.
