Palace appoints Bulay as Comelec commissioner

Malacañang confirmed on Thursday night, Nov. 11 the nomination of lawyer Rey Bulay as Commission on Elections (Comelec) commissioner.

"We confirm that President Rodrigo Roa Duterte signed the nomination of Atty. Rey E. Bulay as commissioner of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) for a term expiring on Feb. 2, 2027," Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in a statement sent to Palace reporters.

"We are confident that Atty. Bulay will ensure the conduct of honest, orderly, credible and peaceful elections," Roque said.

Roque further said that the Malacañang wishes the lawyer "all the best in his new assignment".

The next local and national elections will take place on May 9, 2022.
