MMDA inaugurates new footbridge on EDSA-Buendia

There is now a new footbridge on the southbound lane of EDSA-Buendia to provide bus commuters a safe access to the loading and unloading area of the bus carousel.

Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Benhur Abalos, who led the inauguration of the new footbridge Thursday, Nov. 11, said the agency’s new project will also help ease the traffic in the area.

"Buendia is one of the busiest intersections in terms of pedestrian traffic and having this overpass for them to use will make their trips easy, secured, and safe," Abalos said.

The new footbridge will be connected to the existing Manila Metro Rail Transit (MRT) pedestrian overpass crossing EDSA southbound. It will serve those going to Makati Central Business District and vice versa, as well as commuters coming from Bonifacio Global City (BGC).

The new footbridge can be accessed from Makati Avenue or the southbound exit of the MRT Buendia Station.

Meanwhile, the construction of other footbridges located in Tramo, Taft, and Roxas Boulevard for the EDSA Bus Carousel is already underway.
