Fil-Am big man Sage Tolentino signs with University of Cincinnati

Filipino-American prospect Sage Tolentino is set to suit up for University of Cincinnati Bearcats and compete in Division I of the US NCAA.

Cincinnati welcomed the development through a news release and a series of tweets Thursday, Nov. 11.

"I'm excited about Sage," head coach Wes Miller said. "He's skilled, long, athletic and has versatility at 7-foot-1 to guard multiple positions. He can step out and shoot the three, and he's our type of kid. He's fun-loving with a great personality, but I love that when he works, he's very serious about his game. I'm really excited to welcome him to our program."

Tolentino, 17, was signed alongside forward Josh Reed ahead of the 2022-23 season.

The 7-foot-1 center formerly played for Maryknoll High School, where he was known for being the tournament's most outstanding player in 2020 after posting 13.5 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 3.5 blocks per game.

He also helped the Spartans win back-to-back titles (2019-2020) in the Hawaiian High School Athletics Association (HHSAA) Division I Boys Basketball State Championship.

Tolentino was also scouted by Gilas Pilipinas and received offers from different NCAA schools such as University of Kansas, University of Kentucky, and Auburn University.

The Bearcats are fresh from a 65-43 win against the Evansville Purple Aces Wednesday, Nov. 10, for their first win under Miller.
