Comelec welcomes nomination of Bulay as Commissioner

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Thursday welcomed the nomination of Atty. Rey Echavarria Bulay as Commissioner.

In a statement, Comelec Chairman Sheriff Abas said Bulay is a timely addition to the En Banc.

"Atty. Bulay, who is currently the Chief Prosecutor of Manila and former Commissioner of the Presidential Commission on Good Government, is a timely addition to the Comelec En Banc especially now that we are in the midst of our preparations for the 2022 National and Local Elections," he said.

"His vast experience in law enforcement and the pursuit of good governance will greatly contribute to the Commission's thrust in the advancement of honest, orderly, peaceful, credible, and safe elections," added Abas.

According to the poll chief, Bulay was nominated by President Duterte as Commissioner for a term expiring on February 2, 2027.
