“Baguio jokes” became so popular when the Paolo Contis-Yen Santos love controversy came out. (ask pa natin si LJ Reyes!) The “Let’s go to Baguio as a friend” line was all over the social media. (may nangangahas pa ring gamitin yan!) But since the issue has reached its natural death, the sarcastic quip should rest. (nagasgas na kasi. Iba naman!) Let’s focus on other important things about the summer capital of the country. (kalimutan muna yang si friend!)

Tomorrow, Nov. 12, the city of Baguio will gear up for the 4th edition of Ibagiw Creative Festival with the theme: Create, Integrate, Elevate at the Baguio Convention Center. (gusto kong mag-elevate!) The launch will feature a fascinating narrative of the city’s traditional artistic rituals and progressive modern Ibagiw arts. (may kultura levels ganyan!)

It will also highlight series of art exhibitions that showcase Baguio’s vibrant and diverse artistic and cultural heritage. These activities will provide local artists an avenue for their masterpieces. (beke nemen, meron kayo dyan for me!)
The organizers have lined up screenings of documentaries at the Museo Kordilyera. It will teach the meaning and technology of production of basketry, metal craft, tattooing, weaving and woodcarving. Participants will have access to several forums and cultural shows. There will be digital execution for all activities to meet the demands of the new normal via Baguio Creative City Facebook page. (tayo na ang alipin ng digital age!)
The month-long celebration is in line with Baguio’s designation as UNESCO Creative City for Crafts and Folk Arts. More than showcasing the arts, the celebration embodies the identity of Baguio as a home to cultural heritage and communal unity that can confidently shine even in the midst of challenges. (so, dapat ako naman ang isama ni Paolo rito!)
