Navotas City gov't holds groundbreaking ceremony for convention center
The Navotas City government held the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Navotas Convention Center (NCC) on Wednesday, Nov. 10.
The ceremony was led by City Mayor Toby Tiangco and Representative John Rey Tiangco.
"Tuloy-tuloy po ang mga proyekto natin sa ating lungsod para mas mapaangat pa ang buhay ng bawat Navoteño (The projects for our city continue so that we can improve the lives of every Navoteno)," Mayor Tiangco said.
The project aims to provide a place where the leaders and citizens can meet and share their knowledge and skills that will help in Navotas City's development.
The NCC, a three-story building located near the Navotas Centennial Park, will mainly feature a standard-size basketball court with 4,225 seating capacity.
It will also have two cafeterias, a concession area, seven offices, indoor and outdoor parking areas, and 10 function rooms that can accommodate up to 700 individuals.
Meanwhile, Rep. John Rey Tiangco said that the NCC will provide different opportunities not just for the residents but also for those from other local government units.
"Sa pagtatayo ng convention center, magkakaroon na tayo ng venue para sa ating mga seminars, conventions, at iba pang malakihang pagpupulong. Pwede rin itong ipa-renta sa mga pribadong kompanya na nangangailangan ng ganitong pasilidad. (With the construction of the convention center, we will have a venue for our seminars, conventions, and other large-scale meetings. It can also be rented out to private companies that need this kind of facility)," he said.
Aside from the NCC, the local government also started the construction of the Navotas Polytechnic University.
