Those qualified to avail of the local absentee voting (LAV) in connection with the May 9, 2022 National and Local Elections may already submit their applications.

The Commission on Elections on Wednesday, Nov. 9, announced that it will begin accepting applications for LAV.
The poll body, however, said that only government officials and employees, including members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Philippine National Police (PNP), as well as members of the media, media practitioners including their technical and support staff, are allowed by law to avail of LAV.
This is if the following requirements are met: must be duly registered voters whose registration records are not deactivated and, will be temporarily assigned to perform election duties or to cover and report on the conduct of elections in places where they are not registered voters.
In a statement, the Comelec said, the LAV forms may be downloaded at comelec.gov.ph and will also be distributed to all government agencies, AFP, PNP, media entities, corporations or members of the media.
It added that the duly accomplished LAV Form 01 must be submitted not later than March 7, 2022 to the following: the heads of offices/supervisors/commanders/officers next-in-rank in case of government officials and employees and members of the AFP and PNP; and the Office of the Regional Election Director (ORED) for localities in the National Capital Region (NCR), or the Office of the Election Officer (OEO) in case of highly urbanized or independent cities outside NCR, or the Office of the Provincial Election Supervisor (OPES) for all other areas, in case of media voters.
"Media voters must also accomplish and submit LAV Form 02, while freelance journalists must present a Certification under oath stating that they have valid assignments from bona fide media organizations, attaching proof of such fact," the Comelec said.
"Likewise, online publishers must present Certifications under oath stating that they are actively in pursuit of gathering and distributing online election content, indicating the URL of the online publication or blog showing their names or listing the applicants as part of the reporting team for that site," it added.
The local absentee voting period is on April 27, 28 and 29, 2022, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Positions to be voted for LAV are only those of the President, Vice-President, Senators and Party-List Representatives.
