Duterte urges Filipinos on Undas: 'Pray for each other'
President Duterte urged Filipinos to pray for each other as the country continues to grapple with the effects of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Duterte made the statement as Filipino Catholics commemorate the Undas season or the All Saints Day and All Souls Day commemoration on November 1 and November 2.
In his official message for the season released on Monday, the President asked the public to include their fellowmen in their prayers.
"As we follow the example of the saints and pray for our loved ones who have passed on, let us also pray for each other, especially during this pandemic," he said.
"We pray for those who have died because of COVID-19 and we also pray for those who have sacrificed life and limb to save more lives and keep us safe," he added.
The President said that Filipinos can use the time to reflect on life, especially as the threat of COVID-19 remains present.
"The occasion offers us a time to reflect and be grateful for the gift of life and the promise of eternity. With the grace of the Almighty, I have full trust that we will brave these trying times and emerge as a stronger nation," he said.
Meanwhile, Duterte noted that the commemoration of Undas is part of being a Filipino.
"This centuries-old tradition of honoring those who have come before us and led virtuous lives, as well as remembering our dearly departed, is a strong pillar of our faith and identity as a people," he said.
November 1 is a special non-working holiday while November 2 was declared to be a special working day this year and also in 2022.
