Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso is putting his foot down on his authority to issue an executive order lifting the policy on the wearing of face shields, and the Metro Manila council is backing him up with a resolution it would be issuing any time soon. This was even after Palace spokesperson Harry Roque assailed his order as null and void because of an existing mandate from the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF).
This, as the OCTA Research Group said Metro Manila could have less than 200 daily coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases by the end of November.
The government is suspending the deployment of nurses abroad after the annual limit was already reached.
Meanwhile, the country’s inventory of COVID-19 vaccines got a huge boost anew with the delivery of 2.8 million doses of Russia’s Sputnik V vaccine on Monday night, November 8, 2021. And in his speech at the welcome ceremony for the vaccines, President Duterte called on Filipinos anew to have themselves vaccinated to support the country’s determined drive to end the pandemic.
