Yes, this breathtaking bridge exists in Southern Leyte

TACLOBAN CITY - Intended to uplift the local economy, the tallest bridge in the country, connecting seaports from Southern Leyte to Luzon and Mindanao has become one of the top tourist destinations in the province.

With its 75-meter height above sea level and 350-meter length, the Agas-Agas Bridge in Sogod, Southern Leyte has not only been key road access to the three major islands in the country but also wows tourists who pass by its awe-inspiring view.

The project was supported by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), led by Sumitomo-Mitsui Construction Co., Ltd., a leading engineering firm in Japan in November 2006.

It was completed in 2009 under the administration of Philippine President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo with view decks on each side.

Joseph "Sef" Pasalo, a native of Palo, Leyte, and one of the top travel vloggers and social media influencers in the country shared one of his most unforgettable experiences in Agas-Agas.

"I was standing in the middle of the bridge when an earthquake happened. The bridge was shaking so I panicked for awhile but when I asked the vendors there, they told me it was a usual occurrence," he shared.

Sef is known for featuring construction projects but he said the engineering marvel of Agas-Agas is incomparable.

"Sa dinami dami ng mga napuntahan ko nng lugar, sa dami ng mga pambihirang kalsada at tulay na aking na ifeature sa vlog, wala pa ring papantay sa ganda at saya tuwing madadaan ako dito sa tulay ng Agas-agas," he shared.

With its stunning height and view of a big part of Southern Leyte province, he shared he is amazed by how a seemingly impossible infrastructure was built.

"Bagama't malapit ng magawa ang mga tulay na mas mahaba pa sa San Juanico, mga tulay na kasing-taas o higit pa sa Agas-Agas, para sa akin, isa sa pinakamaganda pa rin ang Agas-agas ng Southern Leyte," he added.
