The Philippines logged 2,656 fresh cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on Saturday, Nov. 6, with active cases still below 40,000.
The total number of active cases across the country is at 34,866. These cases represent 1.2 percent of the overall cumulative tally of confirmed cases detected since last year, which was at 2,800,621.
About 67 percent of those who are still sick have mild symptoms, 14.86 percent are in moderate condition, 8.7 percent have severe symptoms, 5.6 percent are asymptomatic, and 3.7 percent are in critical condition, based on the DOH case bulletin.
The health department also reported 5,130 new recoveries, bringing the total to 2,721,516.
However, the death toll increased by 154 to 44,239.
DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire reminded the public to continue following the minimum public health standards as this will help in preventing the cases from increasing again.
Vergeire also called on the local government units (LGUs) to continue their aggressive implementation of the prevent, detect, isolate, treat and reintegrate (PDITR) strategies to further bring down the number of cases.
Vergeire said there is a possibility that active infections in the country might drop to 22,000 by mid-November if these measures are maintained.
