DAVAO CITY — A total of 121,200 doses of Sinovac CoronaVac and 143,800 doses of Oxford AstraZeneca vaccines arrived at the Davao International Airport Thursday morning, Nov. 4.
In a statement, the Department of Health Davao Region said the vaccines arrived via Cebu Pacific flight DG5813 at 08:12 am.
"As of today, Davao Region has received a total of 5,238,770 doses of COVID-19 vaccines," the DOH Davao added.
The DOH also reminded the public to enlist themselves for vaccination.
As of Wednesday, Nov. 3, the DOH Davao Center for Health Development reported 67 new cases of COVID-19 in the region bringing the total number of active cases to 4,583.
Based on the Weekly Situationer report of the DOH Davao Region issued last November 3, there is a decreasing trend in the number of COVID-19 deaths in the region.
"From the last six weeks, a decreasing trend of death cases was observed in the region. Majority of the deaths were recorded from Davao City," it added.
As of Wednesday, 13 deaths due to COVID-19 were recorded. Two of these cases from Davao City were new death cases recorded, while 11 deaths were all late reports from Davao del Norte, Davao de Oro, Davao Oriental, and Davao Occidental.
Meanwhile, the DOH Davao Region and the City Government of Davao are preparing for the administration of booster shots of COVID-19 vaccines for medical frontliners.
This was confirmed by Davao City COVID-19 Task Force Spokesperson Dr. Michelle Schlosser.
“I can confirm na meron na tayong usapan about sa booster dose labi na gyud sa atong frontliners (We do not have updates as to when but I can confirm that there are already talks about booster dose especially for our front liners,” Schlosser said.
However, she said there is no date yet when to roll out the booster shots for the medical frontliners.
