A total of 40,419 children aged 12 to 17 years old with comorbidities has been vaccinated against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the Department of Health (DOH) said on Wednesday, Nov. 3.

DOH Undersecretary Myrna Cabotaje said that there were 1.2 million children with comorbidities under the said age group across the country.

Cabotaje also said that the government has also started the inoculation for the rest of the pediatric population aged 12 to 17. The target population is 11.4 million, she said.

The health official said that they are targeting to vaccinate 80 percent of the pediatric population by the end of this year.

Cabotaje also reported that the government has already administered 60.4 million vaccine doses since the COVID-19 vaccination program started last March.

She said that 32.6 million doses were given as first doses, while 27.7 million were already fully vaccinated.

A total of 108,912,560 vaccine doses were already delivered to the country, of which, 87,247,120 were already deployed in different parts of the country.

The government is targeting to vaccinate at least 77 million Filipinos or 70 percent of the Philippines’ population by the end of 2021.
