Marikina City gives discounts to early taxpayers

The Marikina city government enacted on Saturday, Oct. 30, an ordinance offering discounts to those who will pay their real property taxes early.

City Ordinance No. 009, Series of 2019 passed by the Marikina City Council and signed by Mayor Marcy Teodoro offers a 20 percent discount on all full property tax payments made before Dec. 31 and a 10 percent discount on property tax payments made before Mar. 31, 2022.

The city government made the move to further support local businesses hardly hit by the pandemic.

Two other ordinances were recently passed in Marikina which supported the city’s business owners who suffered financial burdens.

City Ordinance No. 052, Series of 2021 or the “Tax Amnesty on Business Property Tax o Amilyar” similarly cancels any incurred late penalties on business property tax until Dec. 31.
