Woman escapes from being bitten by cobra in washroom


TACLOBAN CITY — A woman was almost bitten by a deadly Samar Cobra in their bathroom in Motiong, Samar recently.

Motiong Fire Station said the woman personally reported to their station the presence of the venomous snake in their bathroom.

The rescue personnel of their station immediately planned and successfully captured the snake without giving injury to the responding team.

Personnel of the Motiong Fire Station successfully captures a venomous cobra which was discovered by a woman while she was inside their bathroom in Motiong, Samar.

The cobra measured about 50 inches in length.

The Samar Cobra was in the custody of Motiong Fire Station and was about to be turned over to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources when it died due to an injury.

Samar Cobra (Naja Samarensis) also called Peters Cobra, Southern Philippine Cobra or Visayan Cobra, is locally known as 'Ibingan.' It is a highly venomous species of spitting cobra native to the Visayas and Mindanao Island groups of the Philippines.

Samar Cobra’s venom is a potentially deadly neurotoxin with cytotoxic properties.
