Jeff Canoy, Johnson Manabat, and Amy Perez vow to continue bringing beautiful mornings to Filipinos as they celebrated their first anniversary as co-anchors of “Sakto” on TeleRadyo in October.
Since Oct. 26 last year, Jeff, Johnson, and Amy have served as their audience’s constant companion as they start a new day, offering their viewers important news and useful information with the help of the ABS-CBN newsgathering team.
The show has also given joy, inspiration, and comfort to Filipinos, who have been enjoying the unique chemistry of the anchors, journalists Jeff and Johnson, and original “Sakto” anchor Amy, a veteran actress and host.
Despite not being able to do the show together in one studio, the three have built a solid connection since being brought together to do a morning show during a pandemic.
“Constant communication is the key talaga. We do a zoom get together para updated kami sa mga nangyari sa amin not just with work even sa personal life because sa panahon ngayon important ang mental well-being nating lahat kasi halos two years na tayo sa pandemic,” shared Amy.
According to Jeff, apart from the usual updates in life and discussions of current events, there is one more thing they love to talk about during their virtual hangouts.
“Palagi rin kami nag-uusap tungkol sa K-drama at naghahabulan sa episodes. Our chemistry is really based on real-life friendships that we’ve developed over the years,” he said.
Johnson, meanwhile, credits Amy and Jeff for helping him show another side of him to viewers apart from the serious demeanor he has always had as a Radyo Patrol reporter.
“My image before I joined Sakto was so stiff and through the help of Tyang (Amy) and Tito (Jeff), I was able to somehow lighten my mood in handling my interviews and my anchoring skills,” he shared.
Things continue to get better and more exciting in their show, which now stretches from 6 am until 7:30 am. Last Oct. 29, “Sakto” debuted its newest segment “QuizTion,” a mini quiz-segment with prizes at stake. Watch “Sakto” for more details on this new game.
Presently, viewers are already enjoying interactive games like “Poll for You,” where they are able to participate in the “Kwentuhan" via answering polls using a technology similar to “Madlang Pi-Poll” on “It’s Showtime.” “Sakto” also introduced the celebrity edition of its “Ibigay Mo Na!” virtual Bring Me contest this month, with Sheryn Regis as the first celebrity to play on behalf of a lucky viewer.
The show also continues to level up its lifestyle and showbiz features as it aims to give people a balanced mix of hard news and light and fun content in the morning, just like their recent interview with Christian Lagahit, the Filipino actor in the worldwide hit Korean series “Squid Game.”
Watch “Sakto” from Monday to Friday, 6 am to 7:30 am on TeleRadyo and Kapamilya Channel on cable and online via iWantTFC, the ABS-CBN News YouTube Channel, the DZMM TeleRadyo Facebook page, and the ABS-CBN Radio Service App.
