Opposition Senator Leila de Lima on Monday called on Filipinos to continue to pray for justice for all the victims of violence and senseless killings in the country.

In her message for All Saints’ and All Soul’s Day or Undas, the detained senator said she constantly prays for strength and healing of all the Filipino families who continue to suffer for losing their loved ones amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Dalangin ko po ang patuloy na lakas, tatag at kapanatagan ng loob ng bawat isa sa atin sa kabila ng patuloy na pangungulila at banta ng krisis (I pray for strength and resilience for each one of us even in the midst of bereavement and the threat of a crisis),” De Lima said in her message.

I will also continue to pray, aspire and fight for the victims of violence and killings that they achieve justice),” she said.

Because how can we say they have already died in peace if the families of these victims continue to cry out for justice)?” she asked.

The detained senator noted that just like year, many families would still not be able to pay homage to their loved ones.

Despite these challenges, De Lima said Filipinos should continue showing compassion and love to fellowmen.

This is the second time we are celebrating in the middle of a pandemic. We cannot fully enjoy reuniting during this time when we remember our loved ones who passed away. Many of us cannot visit cemeteries or return to our respective provinces),” she noted.

(But despite our (But as we symphatize and understand each other’s plight, we will continue to remember and fight to restore what is right and what is just. Let’s fight for justice)!” De Lima stressed.
