Pangilinan as VP candidate a 'perfect complement' to Robredo—Trillanes

Former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV had nothing but good words for Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan who was chosen by Vice President Leni Robredo as her running mate for the 2022 polls.

According to Trillanes on Saturday, October 7, Pangilinan is a “perfect complement” to Robredo’s presidential bid.

The former senator said Pangilinan has his full support, including the Magdalo Party, which he chairs.

”On behalf of the Magdalo group, I am expressing our full support for our next VP, Kiko Pangilinan. Not only is he extremely qualified for the post, but also a perfect complement to our next President, Leni Robredo,” he said in a Facebook post.

Trillanes said he also considers Pangilinan “a good friend and ally.”

A former Navy officer, Trillanes will be running for senator under Robredo’s slate for the upcoming elections.

He ran but lost to Robredo in the 2016 vice presidential race. But since then, the former senator has been a staunch supporter of the vice president, even withdrawing his own plans to run as president for Robredo.

Trillanes got the highest number of votes in the internal survey of opposition coalition 1Sambayan, but the group said it is up to Robredo to choose who her running mate will be.

The Magdalo Party vowed full support for Robredo’s candidacy as the group is now on a “mission mode” to ensure her victory in the presidential elections.

“Let’s win this,” Trillanes in a post wtih hashtag #LabanLeni2022.
