Omega splits schedule anew, holds second spot in Group A

Omega Esports split its assignments once again to get hold of the second spot of Group A standing after the Day 3 of the group stages in the 2021 CODM World Championship: Garena Qualifiers on Saturday, October 9.

The Filipinos dropped their first game against Thailand’s Sharper Esport, 2-1, before bouncing back in the second game with a 2-1 victory over Indonesia’ Rimo Sadewa. Omega took the second spot in Group A with a 2-2 win-loss card but was able to keep in step with group leader Sharper in terms of points with seven each.

Kennedy “Idra” Mondoy was hailed MVP in the second match, averaging 18 kills and close to nine assists against 13 deaths for a score average of 2797.

Omega fell behind early in Hardpoint in Summit but unlike in the first match, the Filipinos mounted and completed a comeback after securing the third hard point. Omega kept the momentum on its side since then and scored a 150-92 Map 1 victory over Rimo Sadewa.

Omega’s confidence carried over to the Search and Destroy in Crossfire as it took a 3-2 lead on the defender’s side before the switch. The Filipinos continued to pounce on the Indonesian side as it ended Map 2 with a 6-4 tally to secure the series win.

Desperate to salvage a point in the series, the Indonesians took the Filipinos head on in the Domination in Firing Range. After leading for the most part of the game, Rimo Sadewa fended off a late comeback attempt from Omega to score a tight 150-141 Map 3 victory.

Omega actually had the chance to take the victory in its first match against the Thais but the Filipinos got outplayed in Map 3.

Sharper quickly took control of the first hardpoint which set the tone for the Thailand's dominant 150-54 victory in Take-off. The Filipinos tried to advance and fight back but Sharper was just in full control of the map all throughout the game to score the series’ first point.

Omega made sure to bounce back in Map 2, hacking out a close 6-5 victory in Search and Destroy in Raid to even the series.

With the victory on the line, Sharper got the head start over Omega taking a huge lead, 75- 46 in the first half of Domination in Summit. The Filipinos rallied back in the second half cutting the lead 105-93 with a little over two minutes left but the Thais did enough to keep Omega at bay to score 150-118 Map 3 victory.
