Senator 'Wow Dick' Gordon seeks reelection

Seeking re-election, Senate Blue Ribbon Committte chairman, Senator “Wow Dick” Gordon, through an authorized representative, filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) at the Sofitel Tent in Pasay City on Friday afternoon, Oct. 8.

He is running under the banner of Bagumbayan VNP Movement (BVNP).

Gordon has been repeatedly verbally attacked by Pres. Duterte in connection with his Pharmally probe on the government’s medical equipment procurement.

Currently, he is the chairman and CEO of the Philippine Red Cross (PRC)

In May 2021, Gordon said that he was thinking of running for president anew.

It can be recalled that he joined the presidential race, but lost to late President Noynoy Aquino.

Gordon was first elected as senator in 2004.

In 2001, the incumbent senator was appointed as Tourism secretary by then-President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

Also, he served as mayor of Olongapo City from 1980 to 1986, and from 1988 to 1993.
