Two tropical cyclones will likely be inside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) this weekend as a new tropical depression may enter the country by Saturday, Oct. 9, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Friday, Oct. 8.

In its 11 a.m. tropical cyclone advisory, PAGASA said the tropical depression is seen to enter the PAR by Saturday morning and will be given a local name "Nando."

It was initially monitored as a low pressure area before developing into a tropical depression at around 8 a.m.

Once inside the PAR, the potential cyclone Nando will be joining tropical depression "Maring" that entered the PAR on Thursday, Oct. 7.

As of 10 a.m., the tropical cyclone to be named Nando was located 1,805 kilometers (km) east of Central Luzon at around 10 a.m.

It has maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 55 kph while moving northward at 10 kph.

PAGASA said this weather disturbance is unlikely to directly affect the country's weather conditions in the next 36 hours.

Meanwhile, Maring currently has maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 70 kph.

Its location was estimated at 495 km east of Catarman, Northern Samar, or 400 km east of Borongan City, Eastern Samar ar around 10 a.m.

Weather specialist Raymond Ordinario said PAGASA is monitoring a possible interaction between the two cyclones.

Based on the PAGASA's latest monitoring, one of the two cyclones may weaken and merge with the dominant one, he said.

However, he noted that PAGASA will continue to monitor these weather disturbances for a possible change in the current scenario.

Ordinario said the country is currently in the peak of the typhoon season--usually between October and November.

As such, he noted that the country may still expect a series of low pressure areas in the coming days.
