Filipino figure skaters Christopher Caluza and two-time Olympian Michael Martinez slid to the bottom half of the men's short program in the 2021 Finlandia Trophy on Thursday, Oct. 7 at the Espoo Metro Arena in Finland.

Caluza placed 22nd with 59.74 points among 26 other skaters while Martinez followed suit at 23rd with 55.62.
Caluza executed a clean run but under-rotated on triple loops in his performance while Martinez, who made a comeback since competing in the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Games, had deductions on his triple axel and triple lutz attempts.
Both skaters hope to bounce back and improve their rankings in the free skate event Friday night, Oct. 8 in Manila.
Keegan Messing of Canada and Jason Brown of the United States topped the leaderboard with identical scores of 92.39.
Meanwhile, Sofia Frank is set to see action Saturday, Oct. 9 and Sunday, Oct. 10 in the short program and free skate, respectively.
