Blacklist Ultimate loses to WDC.Freeslot in Garena Qualifiers debut

Blacklist International Ultimate started its campaign on a wrong foot as it fell to Thailand’s WDC.Freeslot, 2-1, in the CODM: 2021 World Championship Garena Qualifiers on Friday, October 8.

The Filipinos fell behind early and never recovered as they got dominated by the Thais in Maps 1 and 2 to take the victory. Blacklist, though, was able to salvage a point from the series after prevailing in the final map to avoid a sweep.

WDC sizzled right from the start of the Hardpoint in Summit, easily outplaying Blacklist at all fronts. Freeslot notched the first point of the series behind a lopsided 150-89 victory led by match MVP Sumet "CHEEK" Saewong with 21 kills and seven assists against 15 deaths.

The same story continued in Map 2 with WDC fending off Blacklist for a 6-4 victory in Search and Destory. Freeslot got the first three points on the defender’s side but Blacklist had some answers, scoring the next two points before the switch.

Blacklist continued to roll, bagging two more points for a 4-3 lead. The Thais, however, showed composure as they finished the match with three straight points to secure the Map 2 win.

Already taking a loss on its first assignment, Blacklist continued its fight in hopes to steal a point from Fresslot in the Map 3.

That’s where the Filipinos finally got their bearings going as it scored a 150-110 victory in Domination in Standoff led by Ken “Kensh1” Ortiz with 25 kills while Martin “Tin” Yap and Aj “Eiji” Agbing contributed 24 kills apiece.

Blacklist currently sits at the third spot of the standing in Group B with a 0-1 record and a point across the board. It will have an opportunity to bounce back and score its breakthrough when it takes on SEM 9 and DG Esports on Sunday, October 10.
