Adele on new album: 'Self-destruction, then self-reflection, and then sort of self-redemption'

The Grammy award-winning singer headlines the November issues of American and British Vogue

Days after teasing the coming of her new album, 15-time Grammy award-winning singer Adele graces not just one but two magazine covers. For their November 2021 issues, British and American Vogue put the music superstars in the spotlight, a first for the global fashion bible.

On both features, Adele talks candidly about what’s latest in her life, from divorce to motherhood and, of course, her music.

“I feel like this album is self-destruction, then self-reflection, and then sort of self-redemption. But I feel ready. I really want people to hear my side of the story this time,” the songstress tells British Vogue, hinting at yet another musical journey that will pull her fans’ heartstrings.

The 33-year-old British singer shocked the internet when she released a clip of her track “Easy On Me” part of her upcoming “30” album. The 20-second preview is true to Adele’s aesthetic with the moody black-and-white scene and melancholic tunes. Expected to drop on Oct. 15, 2021, this marks the end of her more than five-year music hiatus.

Adele also spills some details about her body transformation, her weight loss, which made news during what is described as the the “Year of Anxiety.” “My body’s been objectified my entire career. It’s not just now. I understand why it’s a shock. I understand why some women especially were hurt. Visually, I represented a lot of women. But I’m still the same person,” she reveals to American Vogue. “The most brutal conversations were being had by other women about my body. I was very fucking disappointed with that. That hurt my feelings.”
