48 candidates running for local positions in Muntinlupa

The Commission on Elections (Comelec)-Muntinlupa has released the list of candidates who filed their Certificates of Candidacy (COCs) for local positions in the May 9, 2022 elections.

According to the Comelec-Muntinlupa, 48 candidates are running for the positions of mayor, vice mayor and councilors in Muntinlupa. The COC for congressman was filed with the Comelec-National Capital Region office.

Four candidates are running for mayor of Muntinlupa and two for vice mayor.

A total of 42 candidates are running for councilors, 21 for each for the city’s two districts. Each district has eight seats for councilors for a total of 16.

For mayor, the candidates are Rep. Ruffy Biazon of One Muntinlupa party, independent Nelson Benjamin, Oscar Marmeto of MPP and Marc Red Mariñas of PRP.

For vice mayor, incumbent Artemio Simundac of One Muntinlupa is running against PRP’s Eulogio Dioko II, son of former Muntinlupa vice mayor Celso Dioko.

As of Oct. 7, two candidates filed their COCs for congressman with Comelec-NCR. They are incumbent Mayor Jaime Fresnedi of One Muntinlupa and Silverio Garing of PDP Laban.
