Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso signed on Thursday, Oct. 7, an ordinance which grants city hall employees and personnel hazard pay for their duty during the previous Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) and Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ).

Under Ordinance No. 8779, city hall employees and personnel who rendered their duties during the quarantine period from March to May 14 will receive P500 hazard pay per day.
The budget for the employees' hazard pay amounts to P195,910,548.
According to the circular, city hall employees and personnel can be considered eligible for the hazard pay under the following conditions:
a. The personnel are occupying regular, contractual or casual positions, or are engaged through contact of service (COS), job order (JO), or other similar schemes;
b. The personnel shall have been authorized to report for work at their respective offices or workstations on the prescribed official working hours by the head of the department, bureau, or office during the period of the implementation of the ECQ and MECQ measures;
c. The personnel who are entitled to hazard pay, hazardous duty pay, hazard allowance or any other similar benefits under the existing laws, issuances, rules and regulations, such as public health workers, public social workers, science and technology personnel and military and uniform personnel etc. shall continue to be entitled to such benefits.
