A low pressure area (LPA), which may develop into a tropical cyclone, is expected to enter the country’s monitoring area on Thursday, Oct. 7, the state weather bureau said.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) estimated the location of the LPA at 1,085 kilometers east of Visayas.
“Inaasahan natin itong papasok sa ating Philippine area of responsibility ngayong araw (We expect it to enter our Philippine area of responsibility today),” said weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio.
“Ito ay may posibilidad na maging bagyo, at ang susunod na pangalan ng bagyo ay Maring (There is a possibility that it may develop into a tropical cyclone, and will be given a local name Maring),” he added.
Meanwhile, the state weather agency said the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), a region where the trade winds from the northern and southern hemispheres converge, would be affecting Luzon and Visayas.
Cloudy with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms may be experienced in Ilocos Region, Bataan, Zambales, and Samar provinces due to the prevailing ITCZ.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country, on the other hand, may have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms caused by the ITCZ or localized thunderstorms.
State meteorologists warned against flash floods or landslides that may occur particularly during severe thunderstorms.
