Ex-VP Binay on his 2022 senatorial bid: We can do more, we should do more

Former Vice President and now senatorial aspirant Jejomar Binay said on Thursday that he aims to help improve the lives of the people adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

"We learned during this pandemic how the people have been deeply neglected. We need to fix this," Binay said.

"The first priority should be helping the four million Filipinos who lost their jobs, the over three million families who are experiencing hunger, and the thousands of small businesses who had no choice but to close down. We need to help them recover," he added.

The former vice president said the government should work more in rebuilding the economy in a way that puts priority on creating stable jobs.

He added that it should reform the country's health care system and prioritize the safety, welfare, and well-being of the people.

"I have been in public service for more than 30 years. This is what I will offer to our people. We have done a lot for our fellow Filipinos. We can do more, and we should do more," Binay said.

Binay filed his Certificate of Candidacy on Thursday under the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA), and is running under Senate President Tito Sotto III and Senator Panfilo Lacson's ticket, who are running for vice president and president, respectively.
