DSWD assures augmentation aid to LGUs affected by TD ‘Lannie’


The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) assured the public Thursday, Oct. 7, that the resources of the local government units (LGUs) affected by tropical depression “Lannie” will be augmented.

The DSWD said it has enough resources to provide relief assistance to the families affected by Lannie.

It reported that it has stockpiles and standby funds amounting to more than ₱1.1 billion.

The Social Welfare department said it continues coordinating with the LGUs to ensure the provision of relief assistance to their affected constituents.

“Based on the October 6 report, DSWD is ready to provide augmentation assistance to municipalities and cities affected by the inclement weather,” it said in a statement.

“In fact, the Department maintains stockpiles and standby funds amounting to more than ₱1.1 billion,” it noted.

Of the amount, more than ₱147 million has been earmarked as the available standby funds in the DSWD Central Office and its Field Offices (FOs).

As the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) announced that the low pressure area east of Daet, Camarines Norte developed into tropical depression “Maring”, the DSWD also assured the a total of 365,402 family food packs (FFPs) have already been prepositioned in strategic locations around the country and were ready for distribution.

“The Department also urges the public to stay vigilant and to heed the warnings of their local executives to prevent any untoward incidents.”
