DOH logs over 10K new COVID-19 cases

The Department of Health (DOH) reported more than 10,000 new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases on Thursday, Oct. 7.

There were 10,019 people who were confirmed to have contracted the viral illness, bringing the country’s cumulative tally of cases to 2,632,881.

Of the total cases, 4.4 percent OR 115,328 are active cases. Of those who are still sick, 77.1 percent have mild symptoms, 13.6 percent are asymptomatic, 1.2 percent are in critical condition, 2.7 percent are severe, and 5.33 percent are in moderate state.

The death toll also increased by 109 to 38,937 or 1.48 percent of the total cases.

“The DOH will be reporting additional deaths tomorrow in a separate advisory to reflect numbers not included in the previous case bulletins due to technical issues encountered with COVIDKaya,” it said.

Meanwhile, another 7,425 new recoveries were logged on Thursday. These brought the recovery count to 2,478,616 or 94.1 percent of the overall case count.
