Robin Padilla in official PDP-Laban senatorial list; brother, Rommel to run for congressman

Actor Robin Padilla, a staunch supporter of President Duterte, will seek a Senate seat in the upcoming 2022 elections under the banner of the Partido ng Demokratikong Pilipino-Laban (PDP-Laban) faction led by Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi.

His brother, Rommel Padilla, will make another bid as representative of the 1st District of Nueva Ecija.

The brothers took their oath as PDP-Laban members on October 5, 2021, in preparation for the May 2022 elections. It was Cusi who administered their oath.

Padilla had supported and campaigned for then Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte in the 2016 polls as well as the senatorial bid of Bong Go in the 2019 elections.

Padilla was earlier identified as one of the celebrities shortlisted by the Cusi wing for their senatorial candidates for next year’s elections.

The PDP-Laban Cusi faction earlier announced its initial senatorial slate, which included presidential spokesperson Harry Roque, House Deputy Speaker Rodante Marcoleta, chief presidential legal counsel Salvador Panelo, Information and Communications Technology Secretary Gringo Honasan, Transport Secretary Arthur Tugade, and Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar.
