PH records 9,868 new COVID-19 cases

The Philippines reported 9,868 new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases on Wednesday, Oct. 6.

Based on the latest case bulletin, the country's cumulative case total increased to 2,622,917, with 4.3 percent or 112,807 are active cases or patients still sick.

Of the active cases, 76.7 percent have mild symptoms, 13.9 percent are asymptomatic, 1.2 percent are in critical condition, 2.8 percent are severe, and 5.49 percent are in moderate condition.

Meanwhile, only 133 new recoveries were logged on Wednesday. These brought the recovery tally to 2,471,282 or 94.2 percent of the total case count.

The death toll remained at 38,828 as no new fatalities were again reported on Wednesday due to technical issues with the data system COVIDKaya, the DOH said.

"The DOH is in constant communication with the Department of Information and Communications Technology to resolve technical issues with COVIDKaya," it said.

"DOH then will issue necessary public advisories to report additional deaths not included in today's case bulletin due to technical issues of COVIDKaya," it added.
