NCC already treated 25K COVID-19 patients -- Dizon

About 25,000 coronavirus disease (COVID-19) patients have been treated in the New Clark City in Tarlac since the pandemic began in the country, Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) President and CEO Vince Dizon reported Wednesday, Oct. 6.

"Nung February of 2020 wala po tayong mapaglagyan doon sa ating mga Pilipinong manggagaling sa Wuhan, China. Nung una dapat dadalhin sila sa Fort Magsaysay pero wala pong tubig, kuryente (In February of 2020, we had no place to accommodate our Filipino coming from Wuhan, China. At first they had to be taken to Fort Magsaysay but there was no water, no electricity)," Dizon said.

"Binisita po ni Sec. ang ating NCC at sinabi po nya ito ang perfect kung saan pwedeng mag-quarantine ang ating mga kababayan na uuwi galing Wuhan (Sec. Duque visited NCC and said it was the perfect place where returning Filipinos from Wuhan can be quarantined)," he added.

BCDA opened temporary treatment and monitoring facilities (TTMFs) last year.

In April, BCDA also converted one building at the National Government Administrative Center (NGAC) into a TTMF for COVID-19 patients with mild or asymptomatic cases.

At present, there are four mega quarantine centers in Clark: NGAC North Wing, NGAC South Wing, Athlete's Village Building A, and Athlete's Village Building B.
