Caloocan City Mayor Oscar "Oca" Malapitan outlined the developments and progress achieved in the city during his watch when he delivered his 8th State of the City Address(SOCA) on Tuesday, Oct. 5.
"Siyam na taon ng pagpapatayo ng mga dambuhalang proyekto, pagkalinga sa mga mamamayan, tapat at maayos na pamamahala at pagtupad ng mga pangarap para sa mga taga-Caloocan (Nine years of building huge projects, looking after the people, honest and and good governance, fulfilling the dreams for the people of Caloocan) ," Malapitan said.
In his speech, the mayor reiterated the programs and projects for education, livelihood, security, infrastructure and health that were implemented by his administration since he assumed office in 2013.
He also assured that the fight against COVID-19 and the safety of the people remain the top priorities of the local government.
"ECQ, GCQ, Alert Level System, o anumang quarantine system, isa lang ang direktiba ko. Tiyaking naipatutupad ang mga panuntunan subalit huwag kalimutan na dapat nakaalalay tayo sa mamamayan (ECQ, GCQ, Alert Level System, or any quarantine system, I only have one directive, and that is to make sure that the rules are enforced but don't forget that we must support the people) ," he said.
He added that the city government will continue to provide assistance to individuals and families affected by the pandemic, upgrade medical facilities, and encourage everyone to get vaccinated against COVID-19.
According to Malapitan, the city government could not have done it without the help and support of the people. The city continues to be recognized by the Department of Interior and Local Governemt (DILG) with the Seal of Good Governance.
"Lahat ng ito ay alam kong nararamdaman ng mga mamamayan at maging ng mga ahensya ng pamahalaan, dahilan upang gawaran tayo ng limang sunud-sunod na taon ng prestihiyosong Seal of Good Local Governance (I know that all of these are felt by the people and even government agencies, a reason to award us for five consecutive years with the prestigious Seal of Good Local Governance)," he said.
Malapitan will run as Representative of the 1st District of the city in the May 9, 2022 elections. (Aaron Dioquino)
