Filipino artist Ombok Villamor takes you to the universe through 'Chromatic Cosmos'

Taking his fascination with the cosmos into the next level

Looking up to the stars is an activity humans have been doing for so long. Most people gaze up either to glimpse the future or to wish for something grand. Some stare at the sky to probe the heavens for answers not readily available to them on land and others look up hoping to find a glimmer of inspiration from the glittering night sky. The latter has often spurred many artists to mirror the heavens on their canvas producing many of today’s best masterpieces. This remains to be true, as seen (quite literally) in the latest works of Filipino artist Ombok Villamor—his attempts to decipher the universe.

Ombok Villamor’s ‘Peaceful Luxury’

Presented by Galerie Raphael, the “Chromatic Cosmos” exhibit invites everyone to “the link between the inner and outer realms of mankind and the quest to find peace by bringing these into harmony.” Through line and movement, playing with the themes of life cycles, rebirth, the intuitive, and creative expression, Ombok presents his interpretation of this vast subject that has fascinated humankind since the beginning of history.

“The graceful and harmonious flow of line, whether in the human or natural forms, is evident,” the gallery says. “Each artwork is an individual representation of an energetic process to celebrate and empower the psyche. The results are striking large-scale contemplative paintings, which simultaneously take audiences deep within themselves and to the outer reaches of creation.”

Ombok Villamor’s “Chromatic Cosmos” will be on view at Booth A1 of ManilArt 2021, located at the 3rd Level of SMX Convention Center, SM Aura, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig from Oct. 13 to 17, 2021.
