Paranaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez’s eldest son Paolo will run for councilor in the city’s first district in the May 2022 elections.
Paolo, a civil engineer, is eyeing the seat of Joan Densing who is now on her last term.
Entering politics for the first time to help his constituents in District 1, Paolo will run under the administration’s PDP-Laban. He will join the ticket of Rep. Eric Olivarez who is aiming to replace his brother Edwin as the city mayor next year.
Guada Golez will be Eric’s vice-mayoral bet, while Mayor Edwin will seek a congressional seat.
The 31-year-old bachelor graduated magna cum laude from the Western Michigan University in 2012. He was a US-NCAA Division I tennis champion.
Presently, Paolo is the chief operations officer of the Olivarez Homes and Olivarez Plaza in Laguna.
Paolo has been going around the city, giving food baskets and medicines to the residents affected by the pandemic.
Paolo -- along with reelectionist councilors Pablo Gabriel Jr., Allen Nava Tan, Marvin Santos, Daniel Eric Baes, Eleazar Diokno, actors Jomari Yllana and Valdolph Quizon -- will file his certificate of candidacy on Oct. 7.
