
The Department of Health (DOH) reported that the country's new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases fell below 10,000 on Tuesday, Oct. 5---for the first time since Aug. 10.
The DOH said that 9,055 new patients tested positive for COVID-19.
It was on Aug. 10 that the country recorded fewer than 10,000 cases---wherein 8,560 new cases were recorded at that time.
Cases reported on Tuesday brought the country's number of active cases to 103,077. Of the active cases, 78.8 percent have mild symptoms, 11.4 percent are asymptomatic, 5.65 percent are in moderate condition, 2.9 percent are in severe condition, and 1.2 percent are critical.
Since the start of the pandemic, the Philippines already confirmed 2,613,070 cases.
Another 12,134 patients were able to recover from COVID-19, bringing the recovery count to 2,471,165.
Meanwhile, no new deaths were announced on Tuesday due to technical issues in the DOH system.
"No deaths were reported today due to technical issues in COVIDKaya. The Department of Information and Communications Technology is currently addressing issues encountered by the system," the DOH said.
"When the issue is resolved, the succeeding increase in deaths in the following reports will be due to the previous days backlogs," it added.
