Cebu City drug suspect nabbed via Facebook

A suspected drug pusher in the government's watchlist was arrested on Tuesday, Oct. 5, in Cebu City through the Facebook complaint platform of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

A brainchild of PDEA Director General Wilkins Villanueva, “Isumbong mo kay Wilkins’’ is an online platform that encourages the public to report any drug activities in their localities.

The suspect, James Anding who also goes by the name of Jerry Tabada, 33, was collared at 12:28 a.m. by the combined PDEA and local police in Barangay Basak, San Nicholas after receiving a tip through the PDEA platform.

In the operation, the anti-narcotics authorities seized 12 packs of suspected shabu weighing around 0.5 gram worth P3,400 and buy-bust money.

The ‘target-listed’ Anding is now facing charges for violation of Sections 5 and 11 of Article II of Republic Act (RA) 9165 also known as “The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.’’ (Chito A. Chavez)
