
Six presidential aspirants—only one of them has a political party— have filed their certificates of candidacy (COC) during the fifth day of filing, Oct. 5, according to the data of Commission on Election (Comelec).
The presidential aspirants were Maria Aurora Marcos (Independent); Arnel David (Independent); Marsden Luyahan (Independent); Leonardo Fernandez (PPP) Valeriano Nocon III (Independent); and Edgar Niez (Independent).
Meanwhile, Medolino Villanueva, an independent candidate, was the only one who filed COC for vice president.
A total of eight senatorial aspirants have filed COC, most of them are independent candidates and only two aspirants belong to political parties
Those who filed for senator were Samuel Hardin (Independent), Lorenzo "Larry" Gadon (KBL), Norberto, Esmeralda (Independent), Orlando Bernardo (Independent), Nur-Ana Sahidula (KPP), Joseph Dy (Independent), and Paul Escolano (Independent).
Twenty-six party-list groups have filed Certificate of Nomination and Acceptance (CONA).
