Seafarer vies for presidency

Seafarer Melchor Juno filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) for president on Monday, Oct. 4, at the Sofitel Harbor Garden Tent in Pasay City.

He will be running as an independent candidate.

Should he be elected, Juno promised to "uphold the rule of law."

"Lahat tayo ay pantay-pantay sa tingin ng batas so walang mataas, wala mayaman. Ang mga mahihirap ay magkakaroon din ng boses (We are all equal in the eyes of the law, no one is high, no one is rich. The poor will also have a voice)," he added.

"Sana po ay magkaisa po ulit ang ating bansa (I hope the country will be united again)."

Eight presidential aspirants have so far filed bids on the fourth day of the filing of COC.
