Residential area in Antipolo where wake of COVID victim was held placed on lockdown

A residential compound in Antipolo, Rizal where the wake for a COVID-19 victim was held has been placed under 14-day granular lockdown starting Sunday, Oct. 3.

According to Antipolo City spokesperson Jun Ynares, a compound in Sitio Pasong Palanas in Barangay San Juan has been immediately placed under granular lockdown after the local government unit (LGU) found out that the person who died turned out positive for COVID-19.

"Napag-alaman din na labing-siyam na katao mula sa iba't-ibang kabahayan ang dumalo sa lamay. Apatnapu't apat na indibidwal ang apektado ng lockdown kung saan isa ang naitalang kumpirmadong kaso ng COVID-19 at pito naman ang nakitaan ng sintomas ng COVID-19. Kasalukuyang inaantay lumabas ang resulta ng kanilang RT-PCR swab test (Upon investigation, we found out that 19 individuals coming from other places have attended the wake, while 44 persons are affected by the lockdown. The LGU has detected one confirmed COVID-19 case, while seven others are found to have flu like symptoms. We are still waiting for the results of their RT-PCR swab tests)," Ynares said.

Ynares added that the LGU continues to conduct contact tracing to identify the other individuals who attended the wake and to monitor their current health conditions.

He said the COVID-19 positive who died has been properly buried with help from the City Health Office (CHO) and City Social Welfare Department (CSWD). The LGU is preparing to distribute food packs to those affected by the lockdown and to disinfect the area.
