The Philippines recorded 10,748 new cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on Monday, Oct. 4, pushing the nationwide case count to 2,604,040.

The new infections brought the number of active cases to 106,160 or 4.1 percent of the country’s total case tally, based on the latest case bulletin issued by the Department of Health (DOH).
Of the active cases, 82.7 percent are experiencing mild symptoms, 8.3 percent are asymptomatic, 1.2 percent are critical, 2.7 percent are severe, and 5.15 percent are in moderate condition.
Moreover, the Health department reported an additional 16,523 fresh recoveries, raising the number recovered cases to 2,459,052 or 94.4 percent of the total infections.
On the other hand, the death toll also increased to 38,828 or 1.49 percent of the COVID-19 case count after 61 more people died due to the viral illness.
The DOH said 107 duplicates were removed from the total case count. Of these, 71 are recoveries and one is a death.
Moreover, 23 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.
All labs were operational on Oct. 2, the DOH said, while three labs were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS).
