Fully vaccinating 70% of PH's population possible by February 2022 -- NTF

Fully vaccinating 70 percent of the country's population, the initial target eyed to achieve herd immunity, is possible by February 2022, National Task Force (NTF) Deputy Chief Implementer Vince Dizon said Monday, Oct. 4.

As vaccine deliveries are arriving at a faster speed and the younger age group will be included in the government's inoculation program, Dizon expressed optimism that the country will fully inoculate 70 percent of its population of 111 million by February 2022.

"We are confident that with the vaccines coming in starting October, we will be able to meet or even exceed that target," Dizon said in a televised briefing.

"By February of 2022, mukha pong maaabot natin yung goal natin na 70 percent fully vaccinated para po pagdating ng campaign, safe na po ang ating mga kababayan (It looks like we will reach our goal of 70 percent fully vaccinated so that when the campaign period starts, our countrymen will be safe)," he added.

The Philippines has received a total of 77.4 million doses of COVID-19 jabs, with 46.3 million administered nationwide.

Of the total administered doses, 24.5 million were given as the first dose and 21.8 million were second dose.
