Sixteen aspiring senators filed their certificates of candidacy (COC) on Monday, Oct. 4, at the Sofitel Hotel in Pasay City.

Baguio miner Narciso Solis was the first to file for the Senatorial race on Day 4. He will run as an independent candidate.
Other senatorial hopefuls who filed their COCs were: Marieta Mindalano (KKK), Roberto Aniceto (PGRP), Claro Guzman (PGRP), Maria Lourdes Santiago (PGRP), Edgar Miranda (PGRP), Rosita Maura Delos Angeles (PGRP), Jigger Pitos (PGRP), and Eleazar Calmpiano (PGRP).
Also filed their COCs were: Bobby Francisco (PGRP), Pedro Austria (PGRP), Florencio Carlos (PGRP), Anthony Castro (PGRP), Mario Mangco (PGRP), Junibert Guigayuma (Independent), and Jennet "Genie" Tam (Independent).
As for partylists, 10 groups submitted their certificate of nomination and acceptance.
Among them were: AKO IP, Marvelous Tayo, Alagaan ang Sambayanang Pilipino (AKAP), Gabriela, Aasenso, Ako'y Tech Voc, Alalayang Kuya at Ate sa Pilipinas (AKAP), Truck Drivers Phil. Inc., and Ipatupad for Workers.
Celebrity chef Boy Logro also filed CONA for Aangat Kusinerong Pinoy partylist.
There are now 39 candidates for senator and 48 for partylist.
