Pagunsan finishes 64th in Japan tourney

Juvic Pagunsan limped home with a 5-over-par 76 in the fourth round Sunday to finish 64th in the ISPS Handa Gatsu-n to tobase Tour at the Miho Golf Club’s Champion course in Japan.

Starting at the back nine, Pagunsan struggled with two birdies and two bogeys on the first four holes before stumbling into a double bogey on the par-4 14th hole.

He picked himself up with a birdie on the next and appeared to be in control until faltering with two more bogeys and a double bogey on the last six holes.

With earlier rounds of 69, 74, and 71, Pagunsan finished with a four-round aggregate of 290, 23 strokes behind champion Tomoyo Ikemura.

The Filipino still went home with 176,800 yen (around P78,000).

Ikemura ruled the tournament by shooting a final-round 65 for a 267 total and the 16 million yen cash purse (around P7 million).

After a bogey on No. 5, Ikemura went on to fire seven birdies to prevail by two strokes against second-placers Jinichiro Kozuma, Yuki Inamori and third-round leader Yuta Uetake.

Kozuma and Inamori shot similar 63s while Uetake lost his grip and slipped with a 72.
