'Hangout with Yoo,' 'Young Lady and Gentleman,' 'Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha' among favorite TV shows in October

Polling firm Gallup Korea released the top 20 favorite TV shows in South Korea for the month of October.

The survey was conducted among 1,000 people aged 18 and above nationwide from Oct. 19 to 21.

MBC’s reality show “Hangout with Yoo,” starring popular entertainer and emcee Yoo Jae-suk, took first place with 4.4 percent. This is the second consecutive month that the TV show placed first on the Gallup Korea survey.

Korean drama on KBS2 “Young Lady and Gentleman,” starring Ji Hyun-woo, Lee Se-hee and Cha Hwa-yeon, placed second with 4.2 percent.

Variety show “You Quiz on the Block” (tvN), hosted by Yoo Jae-suk and Jo Se-ho, rose to third place with 3.5 percent.

Lee Hanee and Lee Sang-yoon’s SBS Korean drama “One the Woman” and TV Chosun’s “Tomorrow’s National Singer” tied for fourth place with 3.2 percent.

Here are the top 20 favorite TV shows in South Korea for the month of October based on the Gallup Korea survey:

1. “Hangout with Yoo” (Reality show, MBC) - 4.4 percent

2. “Young Lady and Gentleman” (Korean drama, KBS2) - 4.2 percent.

3. “You Quiz on the Block” (variety show, tvN) 3.5 percent

4. “One the Woman” (Korean drama, SBS) - 3.2 percent

“Tomorrow’s National Singer” (singing contest, TV Chosun) - 3.2 percent

6. “Red Shoes” (Korean drama, KBS2) - 3 percent

7. “The Veil” (Korean drama, MBC) - 2.7 percent

8. “Running Man” (variety show, SBS) - 2.6 percent

9. “Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha” (Korean drama, tvN) - 2.2 percent

10. “Street Woman Fighter” (dance competition, Mnet) - 2 percent

11. “I Am a Natural Person” (reality show, MBN) - 1.9 percent

12. “Powerful Opponents” (TV Chosun) - 1.5 percent

“Mom’s Diary” (reality show, SBS) - 1.5 percent

14. “Red Sky” (Korean drama, SBS) - 1.3 percent

“World Theme Travel” (EBS) - 1.3 percent

“Ppong School” (TV Chosun) - 1.3 percent

“Romantic Call Center” (TV Chosun) - 1.3 percent

18. “I Live Alone” (reality show, MBC) - 1.1 percent

“2 Days & 1 Night” (reality show, KBS2) - 1.1 percent

20. “Let’s Play Soccer 2” - 1 percent

“The All-Around Wife” (Korean drama, KBS1) - 1 percent
