'Amihan', tail-end of frontal system to affect PH weather

The northeast monsoon and the tail-end of frontal system remain the dominant weather systems that will likely bring isolated to scattered rain showers over parts of the country, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Sunday morning, Oct. 31.
PAGASA weather specialist Ezra Bulquerin said the tail-end of frontal system, also called "shearline," is the convergence of northeasterly and easterly winds that forms rain clouds.
In the next 24 hours, the shearline may bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Caraga, Central Visayas, and Eastern Visayas.
Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms may also prevail over Western Visayas and the rest of Mindanao.
PAGASA reminded the public to remain vigilant against possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon or "amihan" may cause partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with isolated light rains over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.
Moreover, PAGASA said moderate to rough seas may prevail over northern Luzon, while slight to moderate seas will likely persist over the rest of the country.
While PAGASA has not issued a gale warning, fishing boats and other small sea vessels are still advised to remain alert against big waves.
