An earthquake measuring magnitude 3.4 jolted Surigao del Sur on Sunday afternoon, Oct. 31, said the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
The tremor that struck at 1:10 p.m. originated 7 kilometers northwest of Tagbina, Surigao del Sur.
Phivolcs said it was felt as a "weak" tremor at Intensity III in Tagbina, Surigao del Sur and Rosario and San Francisco, Agusan del Sur.
Meanwhile, it was slightly felt at Intensity II in Barobo, Surigao del Sur.
Phivolcs said the earthquake was tectonic in origin, which means it was caused by the movement of an active fault near the area.
However, it noted that damage to property or aftershocks due to this earthquake is not expected.
