Filipinos play limited minutes; Aquino makes Japan debut in Emperor's Cup

Ray Parks Jr., Dwight Ramos, Kobe Paras and the debuting Matthew Aquino saw action for their B.League teams that won Saturday, Oct. 30 in the All-Japan Championship which is also known as the Emperor’s Cup.

Parks had six points, three rebounds, four assists and two steals in 18 minutes as the Nagoya Diamond Dolphins rolled to a 93-58 rout of Earthfriends Tokyo Z which didn’t field Juan Gomez de Liano in Kishidawa City.

Ramos played just 12 minutes and produced four points, three rebounds and three assists in the Toyama Grouses’ 105-71 victory over Kemark Carino and the Aomori Wat’s.

Carino finished with four points and one rebounds in almost 15 minutes for Aomori.

Also in Kishidawa, Paras scored 12 points for Niigata Albirex, which prevailed past the Yamagata Wyverns with a 71-60 decision.

Aquino finally saw action for the Shinshu Brave Warriors after failing to see action in previous B.League, posting nine points, two rebounds and one block in ripping the Bambitious Nara, 93-52.

Javi Gomez de Liano didn’t play anew for the Ibaraki Robots, who registered an 86-74 victory over the Fighting Eagles Nagoya in the game also held in Hokkaido.

Toyama will take on the Shimane Susanoo Magic, Parks’ Nagoya meets Aquino’s Shinshu and Paras’ Niigata plays the Hiroshima Dragonflies on Sunday in the next round of Japan’s knockout-style cup tournament.

Brothers Kiefer and Thirdy Ravena and their teams face separate foes also on Sunday to start their Emperor’s Cup stints.

Thirdy’s San-En Neophoenix will meet the Koshigaya Alphas while Kiefer’s Shiga Lakestars tackle the Rising Zephyr Fukuoka.
